Kiwi hopped beers for stylish rooftop idles at Kairoa Brewing Company
Founded by New Zealanders, there’s more than a little Southern Hemisphere charm to Kairoa Brewing Company. The large two-level brewpub in University Heights opened in the spring to rave reviews, thanks in no small part to its gorgeous and spacious rooftop bar and lounge. The beers had something to do with it too.

Led by its Back Paddock New Zealand pilsner, what the range of beer styles brewed at Kairoa have in common is they feature Southern Hemisphere hops, prized among beer fans for their distinctive fruity, at times tropical aromas. So citrus notes swim atop the crisp pilsner, rather than the floral essence in classic lagers.
